Get to know me!

Hay, I’m Kayla — lifelong horse girl, farm-lover, and someone who has spent over two decades immersed in the equine world. Horses have shaped my life from childhood to career, and my passion is helping others build safe, meaningful partnerships with their own horses.

My Story

I’ve been riding since I was six years old and grew up as a true barn rat, spending every day after school (and all summer long) working, riding, and learning everything I could about horses.

I leased horses for years before buying my first horse at seventeen — she’s now retired and living her best life on our small farm. Over the years I’ve loved adventures galloping down the beach, eventing, and competed on my college equestrian team in the open division, serving as captain for two years.

After college, my love for horses took me abroad. I spent several months in New Zealand with WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms), traveling from horse farm to horse farm, working in exchange for room and board, and learning from some incredible horsemen and women along the way.

Then & Now

When I returned home, I worked as a technician in a multi-doctor equine veterinary practice, gaining invaluable hands-on experience. I later moved to Maine where I continued in small animal veterinary work before becoming the PR/Marketing Manager for a privately funded equine rescue.

I eventually returned to Rhode Island and became the Stable Manager for the local police department’s Mounted Unit. In this role I trained horses for police work, desensitization, and crowd control; taught officers horsemanship and riding; evaluated new horses; and managed a herd of hard working draft horses. I also had the great pleasure of traveling to North Dakota to work with wild Nokota horses in a specialized horsemanship clinic.

Most recently, I work as an office manager at a local equine veterinary practice ensuring all our horses are provided exceptional, comprehensive veterinary care. I actively pursue continuing education to stay current and continuously expand my skills and knowledge of all things equine.

I am a Massachusetts-licensed riding instructor and a CHA-certified riding instructor (Certified Horsemanship Association).

I currently live in Rhode Island on our small but growing farmstead with my horse, mini cows, dogs, and cat. My diverse, well-rounded equine background and lifelong hands-on experience and commitment to quality, conscientious animal husbandry shape everything I do.

My Mission

My goal is to provide honest, practical, knowledgeable support to horse owners who want to deepen their horsemanship skills and build the best possible partnership with their equine companions.
